We’ve just reviewed the card we use for newcomers. We’ve tidied it up, and made the whole thing a touch more intentional. There are basically four areas.

We had about twenty new people at our newcomers event last time we ran it. But in the week afterwards, a couple of church families warned me they might be moving away for job reasons. Still, twenty new adults in, four adults out, 20-4=16 – sounds like church growth, doesn’t it? Not so fast, young Jedi.
Tomorrow is another Sunday when I’m going to be leading new members sessions during our main church services. Basically, I’m going to explain what it’s about during the notices, and then during the song after that I’m going to walk to the back of the building, gather a group of anyone new, and go to
Our church has big front doors, in that lots of people turn up quite unannounced. But we also have big back doors too – people leave, often without being noticed. So I want to make sure that journey is not a short one. I want to slow people down, and introduce them to church. I want to make our front doormat sticky.
